“There’s often the question, ‘Why would you do a third one?’” NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles executive producer Shane Brennan admits of the franchise’s next spinoff, which will launch as a two-part “embedded pilot” on NCIS: LA March 19 and 26. “‘How would it be different?’”

Here’s how: The action follows a mobile military crime-solving unit, the Red team, led by Paris Summerskill (Grey’s Anatomy alum Kim Raver), who shares a mysterious past with analyst Roy Haines (Sex and the City’s John Corbett).

Brennan says the new show, which may be called NCIS: Red, will track the team’s overlapping personal and professional lives. “They work and live together 24/7″ — on two trucks nicknamed Laverne and Shirley — “so they sit around a dinner table, arguing about elements of the case and who kept everyone awake last night snoring.”

Kim Raver has scored the female lead in CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles spin-off, TVLine has learned.
The Grey’s Anatomy and 24 actress will play Special Agent Paris, the athletic, smart, witty and bold leader of the Red team. Paris has a Degree in Forensic Science, can drive a golf ball 300 yards and has a brain snapping IQ in the 98th percentile. She prefers to, and often does, work alone.

Raver, who recently scored a recurring role on NBC’s Revolution, joins a cast that also includes John Corbett, Scott Grimes (ER), Edwin Hodge (Cougar Town), Gillian Alexy (Damages), and Miguel Ferrer, who’ll juggle both the L.A. edition and the offshoot.
We’ll get our first glimpse of the spin-off — in which a mobile team of agents live and work together as they cross the country solving crimes — when it airs as a two-part episode of NCIS: LA later this season.

The secret lives of Lifetime’s Wives will not be told.

The female-skewing cable network has opted to not move forward with its Kim Raver drama pilot The Secret Lives of Wives inspired by Iris Krasnow’s book of the same name, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Grey’s Anatomy’s Raver starred in the ensemble drama that explored the unvarnished truth behind the marriages of four different women — Michelle (Raver), Reed (Criminal Minds’ Salli Richardson), Keaton (Three Rivers’ Amber Clayton) and Jessie (Paranormal Activity 3′s Lauren Bittner).
